In response to the "disputed fair use" template added ot the file's page, I just want to further clarify why this file was nominated for deletion. This non-free file is currently be used in three articles (David Joiner, MicroIllusions, and The Faery Tale Adventure) yet it only has the seperate specifc non-free use rationale required by WP:NFCC#10c for "The Faery Tale Adventure". This means the file can simply be removed from the other two articles per WP:NFCCE. There are, however, other non-free content issues with the file which mean that a valid non-free use rationale can be written for it for any of the three articles given the way it is currently be used.
The subject of the photo Daivd Joiner is still living and non-free images are almost never allowed for the encyclopedic purposes of primary identification per WP:NFCC#1 except in certain specific cases (some of which are mentioned in item 1 of WP:NFC#UUI). There's no reasonable reason given as to why a non-free file cannot be found or created: simply not being able to find one online at the moment does not preclude the fact that one could possibly be created by someone sometime in the future. This might seem to be a strict standard, but it the one consistently being applied to non-free use such as this.
The claim that the file is old or unique is also not in and of itself a valid justification for non-free use for the reasons explained in WP:ITSHISTORIC and WP:IRREPLACEABLE. Joiner as a individual may be Wikipedia notable enough to justify a stand-alone article, but that does not mean that a photo of showing him in a suit of armor is automatically OK to use per WP:NFCCP, unless the photo itself can be shown to have been the subject of sourced critical commentary in independent reliable sources. There is no such discussion of this photo at all in any of the three articles which sufficiently provides context required WP:NFCC#8. Joiner and the game he designed are mentioned by name in all three articles, but there is no article content in which seeing this particular photo significantly improves the reader's understanding to such a degree that not seeing this photo would be detrimental to that understanding. The reader does not need to see Joiner to understand that he designed the game, so the file seems to have been added just to show Joiner, not as part of any sourced discussion of the photo; therefore, removing it from these three articles would not be detrimental to the reader's understanding of their respective content in any way.
So the file's non-free use in these three articles fails WP:NFCC#1 and WP:NFCC#8 and fails WP:NFCC#10c in two out of the three articles. Even if the missing non-free use rationales were added, just providing a non-free use rationale alone is not enough per WP:JUSTONE since all ten non-free content criteria need to be satisfied for each use of a non-free file. -- Marchjuly (talk) 01:27, 7 November 2017 (UTC)
