The image is not replaceable, since it shows three of the key figures of the Fifth Labour Government of New Zealand together, at a unique time in New Zealand's history when all three positions were occupied by women. Dame Cartright has since finished her term of office and so this combination will never be repeated.-gadfium 03:47, 19 August 2007 (UTC)
These people are still alive, and could still be photographed. There is no compelling need to have all of them together in the same photograph. – Quadell (talk) (random) 00:34, 22 August 2007 (UTC)
There is no need to reduce the size of the image here, as it is used entirely according to its copyright statement, which allows anyone to use the image. Wikipedia does not distinguish between images which are used under a "fair use" claim in United States law despite being under restrictive copyright laws (for example, album covers), and images which are free to use but which do not qualify as free images under Wikipedia's policies. We call all these images "fair use". To use a low-resolution image is necessary for such things as album covers because we need to make sure the image we present has negligible commercial value as part of the fair use claim, but this is not necessary for an image such as this one.-gadfium 19:56, 19 August 2007 (UTC)
It seems that no fair use case can possibly succeed, if the people in the photo are still alive. You have wasted my time and your own by suggesting that deletion of the image was open to discussion. I am disillusioned.-gadfium 03:34, 22 August 2007 (UTC)
