I searched for public images showing Wolfgang Smith, but found none. I don't think he's a recluse, but it seems he doesn't appear in public situation where a free photo might be obtained. So I believe that keeping this one is appropriate to illustrate the article on him, as the alternative seems to be no photo at all.

Please notice that I've attempted a contact with World Wisdom by e-mail on April 17, 2008, about the possibility of obtaining a broader right to copy than the one available via fair use law, but I received no reply. What follows is the reproduction of the e-mail I sent to World Wisdom:

As this photo is, I believe, copyrighted, I'd like to know whether you can provide me the contact information of its current owner, so that I can ask him/her for a special authorization to upload it to Wikipedia and have it shown in the above article or, better yet, whether s/he would be so kind as to put it in public domain or under a standard permissive license, so that other might also use it in other contexts without the need of prior written consent or the complexities of fair use exceptions. Provided Mr. Smith himself also agrees with this, of course, as I know that the person pictured must give permission for the usage of his image, what I ask you to please ask him.
